Looking through my work, I can see how ‘talking colour’ and ‘seeing pattern’ have helped influence my creative practice. Focusing on just colour made me look at objects and places very differently, I got inspired by things I don’t think I would have been inspired by due to only looking at colour. This exercise pushed me to use new mediums and draw things I wouldn’t usually draw. I really like my abstract painting inspired by the butchers, made with acrylic and my fingers. Only focusing on the colours I saw and how they made me feel. I also really like how you can see my personal drawing style come through, the childlike illustration. Looking at seeing pattern you can still see colour influence my work. If I were to do this again, I think I would try out other styles of drawing and use a wider range of mediums. I defiantly think I stayed in my comfort zone whilst I was drawing, but I want to start trying new things and stepping out of my comfort zone. I would have loved to explore some of these designs further and translate them into textiles. I can see what techniques I would use to create them out of textiles, and what colour fabrics. I think this task is so helpful as it has made me focus on colour and patterns in everyday objects and how you can get inspiration from anything.
